Anna Paquin’s Biography
We all know who Anna Paquin is. The famed Sookie Stackhouse’s character and “that girl who plays Rogue” on the series, The X-Men. Some of you might even know that she played in The Piano at age 11.
But think about it: Do we really know Anna? Do we really know what she is like or where she grew up? Some of you might, but to tell you the truth, I don’t really know these things either. Hehe. 
For starters, she was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1983. Her parents, Mary, an English teacher, and Brian, a Physical Education teacher, are native to New Zealand. (Of all places.) She has two older siblings a brother named Andrew, born in 1977, and sister a Katya, born in 1980.
She moved from Canada to New Zealand when she was four and attended the Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School until she was eight or nine. She liked to play the Cello, Viola , and Piano, dance Ballet, Gymnastics, Swimming, and downhill skiing, but for some bizaar reason, never took up any acting hobbies.
After the Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School she went to Hutt Intermidiate School from 1994 to 1995. (Her parents got divorced 1995.) She attended high school at Wellington Girls’ Collage and received her high school diploma at Winward School in Los Angeles at year 2000. Surprisingly, she got her marks for community service at a soup kitchen and a special education center in LA.
Her very first film at age 11 was The Piano in 1994. She earned an Academy Award for best supporting actress as well. She was the second youngest winner in history next to Tatum O’Neal in 1973’s Paper Moon. Now, I haven’t ever seen The Piano but it sounds like she kicked some major ass!
It all happened by chance when Anna tagged along to an audition for The Piano. The director, Jane Campion just happened across Anna out of 5000 other auditioners. She received new roles after this movie from the Willum Morris Agency, but she continually turned them down. The only things she did after were a commercial for a phone company called MCI, which just so happens to now be called Verison, and an audio recording for The Magnificent Nose in 1994.
In 1996, at age 13, she decided to play the role of Jane in Jane Eyre and a lead part in Fly Away Home. She appeared in movies throuout her teenage years such as A Walk on the Moon, The Member of the Wedding, Amistad, Hurlyburly, Almost Famous and She’s All That.
This was only a few years ago and when she began her acting career she had also begun collage at Columbia University. She attended for a year and then shot out into the acting world at age 18.
She took up the part as Rogue in the X-Men movie in 2000, its sequel X2 in 2003, and its third X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006.
In the summer of 2006, she Blue State was finished. In November 2006, she completed Margaret. It hasn’t been in box offices due to ongoing legal disputes.
In 2007, Paquin received an Emmy Award nomination for Supporting Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie for her role as Elaine Goodale in HBO’s made-for-TV movie Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, based on Dee Brown’s bestseller. She also received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.
In 2008, she took up the role as Sookie Stackhouse in the HBO series True Blood, her first role in a TV series. She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series for her role in the show, and also won a Satellite Award.
In 2009, she played Irena Sendler, a Polish woman and heroine of the Holocaust, in The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler. It’s based on The Irena Sendler Story, by Anna Mieszkowska. The film was made in Latvia, and was a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation.
Paquin’s next film project is to be The Romantics, a romantic comedy, alogside Liv Tyler, Josh Duhamel and Katie Holmes. It’s suppoed to be released in 2010. (Next year!)
As of now she is filming The Romantics, post-production for Open House, and pre-production for Flying Into Love. She is engaged to Stephen Moyer as of this past few months. I can’t find any details on the film Metamorphosis which is supposed to be in progress as we speak… I mean read.
