Bill and Sam – Their Rivalry
Has anyone ever stopped to think that Bill Compton and Sam Merlotte have more in common than not. From Season 1 they are instant rivals and opponents. They both struggle with who and what they are. They both want acceptance, compassion and ultimately love. They are both looking for the meaning of their lives.
At the end of the first season Sam helped Sookie to save Bill. Bill got his chance to return the favor at the end of Season 2 when it was up to Bill to help Sookie save Sam. Both were at Sookie’s request. In both instances they were motivated out of love and concern for Sookie’s life to be able to come together for her sake. Although Bill is my favorite character I have lots of True Blood Love for Sam because I can empathize with his struggle. He tries hard to fit in and make a difference and he does i.e. Maryann in Season 2. Both Bill and Sam put in heroic effort to stop that demonic nut. It seems like Sam can never catch a break he is always going through some heartbreak or hardships. Sam always gets the shaft. At least Bill has Sookie. Sam is alone.
Can we all agree that Sam needs more True Blood love?
That said, the common goal here is for them both to evolve not for Sookie but for themselves.

For the one who are french: since the november 25th, season one is available in dvd in french stores, and the quality is so much better…
Alors juste pour info profitez-en, sur amazon on peut l’acheter à 36,90 euros et à la fnac à 39,90 euros si vous ne pouvez pas attendre…

honestly their rivalry is useful. Bill says what ever he wants and means. and of course Sam takes it…for what he calls “for Sookie’s sake” also it makes me laugh. just wondering who might through the next punch. im waiting for sam to try and get his ass nearly kicked. Bill wont do. cause again what they call “for Sookie’s sake”
