Daphne………..human or unknown monster?

Daphne at Merlottes.
Is Daphne really what she claims to be?
We all saw at the end of the latest episode how Daphne has scratches similar to the scratches the Sookie obtained from an unknown monster. Daphne’s scratches were not healed as Sookies……could that mean…….Daphne………..monster?
Or maybe Daphne did get the poison, but she didnt have any vampire blood like Sookie did so she was ok but the scratches just didnt heal. Or maybe the exact opposite.
I think that Sam may not be the only “special” person in Bon Temps.
But could Daphne be the monster that attacked Sookie, or was the monster seeing Sookie just pure chance? Daphne and Sookie dont really know each other from what we have seen…..so if Daphne, by chance, is the monster…..why would she attack Sookie?
Or could all of this be just chance and Daphne is not a monster, and Sookie just have a talent for drawing in supernatural people and creatures?
What do you think?

I think that Daphne isnt the monster but could be somthing different i think maryann is the monster and she attacted Daphne and daphne was supposto die but there is somthing different about her that she didnt
Daphne can’t be the monster because she was at Merlotte’s rechecking her receipts when Sookie was attacked. However, she must be something unique because she survived the poison after being clawed.
I don’t think Daphne is “the” monster, but i don’t think she is just human.. She seems to be kind of important, kind of like one of the new main characters.. Like Jessica is now important.. I think maybe she is hiding a secret just like Sam is. As for the scratch marks, I don’t know. I think that Maryann has something to do with it.. That she did those herself maybe not, but definitely something to do with them.. Like she is controlling [or being controlled] by some darker creature… Like she’s a dark creatures … queen… and the dark creature is king… or something….. I dunno.. I’m soooo confused.. I read somewhere that the creature was called a Minotaur, a half human-half bull… But i still don’t know.. I guess i’m going to have to either research more or wait to find out.
i think that daphne is the monster because she is different for some reason also i think she just scratched herself by accident
no i dont think she is the monster but i think the monster is controling her o well i belive everything roxygirl said ‘I think that Daphne isnt the monster but could be somthing different i think maryann is the monster and she attacted Daphne and daphne was supposto die but there is somthing different about her that she didnt’
I don’t think Daphne is the monster. I think Maryanne is and she attacked Sookie for inviting Tara to live with her. I think Daphne’s maybe a shapeshifter or something like that, and that’s why she survived. Maybe she’s Maryanne’s pig!!!
I don’t think Daphne is the creature. Maryanne is the creature. In the first or second episode in this season, Tara is sitting by the pool looking at a painting of the god Pan. Maryanne came out and talked to her about it. I think Maryanne is the god Pan. Pan is a fawn with goat legs and horns. A bull’s horns don’t curl like the creatures did. These horns are more characteristic of a goat or ram. Also,if you factor in how she takes sex and booze everywhere, Pan is famous for his sexual powers, and the Greek gods where not shy on booze either.
i still stick by first theroy. Why does maryann eat so much and was it daphne wispering in maryanns ear in the preview for the 4th episode,I think true blood is going to get better and better.I just wish we could find out what everyone is.
I think these theories are very good… roxy and agata.
I said before that the statue that she as, some kind of no legs with curly arms could represent the Minotaure.
And who said maybe Daphne is the MaryAnn pig? Cool hint too.
I became to suspect of Hoyt too!
OKAY heres my theories. Daphne is “a” dragon/bull/whatever but not “the” dragon/bull/whatever. Somone else, “the” dragon/bull/whatever, scratched her and the poison turned Daphne into one of those. I think shes in on something with Marianne because if you’ll notice, they have one thing in common: SAM. Marianne obviously wants Sam, and chose Tara to get closer to him. And I think we all see through Daphne’s “oh Sam, your here in the river too where I just happen to be?” I also think that Marianne COULD have been the dragon/bull/whatever thing because she doesn’t want tara to move in with Sookie, so she tried to get rid of Sookie. (If you’ll note, this scratchy thing happened a little after Sookie asked Tara to move in, in front of Marianne) but I’m not positive on that theory. Anyways, thats all I got for Daphne. Anyone got any other theories?
I belive maryann is some kind of Sexual Goddess or something like that, pan strikes me as beeing a bit to obvious and Pan isn’t Evil and he isn’t a monsterous beeing if you check the myths. Maybe Maryann is the Female on her wall picture or what ever. Reguarding the Minutaur theory i doubt it, the creature was far to skinny and it looked female and we all know Minutaurs accoring to legend was male and had a human body not claws. I think the Creature might be the same that killed Miss Jannet and it is somehow connected to Maryann since maryann seems to ”care” for Tara and knowing Miss Jannet cheated her and stuff. But bottom line i think it IS Daphne since she’s scratched and the Monsterous Bull creature looked female and that i might be a curse spreading through wounds like the scratch, and since we’re on to the Greek myths i reckon Daphne is working for Maryann.
I suggest you all read the books to try to get an idea of what’s going on in this series…which really doesn’t follow the books directly, but gives a pretty good idea of what’s happening -more of a guideline. The creature that attacked Sookie is called a Maenad in the book. In the first season episode when Tara ran off the road, she later told Kenya (the cop who arrested her for DWI) that she saw a “huge motherf**kin’ Paul Bunyon pig” and there was also a naked woman with it – Mary Ann is that woman. Watch the episode again and you’ll get a brief facial close-up of Mary Ann. In this series Mary Ann is definitely a supernatural being, and I agree that there are many more “supes” to come…stay tuned! Reading the books will give you a great idea on some of these story lines, but many things are changed which just makes it more interesting. And oh yea, I think Lafayette is too good a player to kill off…it’ll be interesting to see how his character develops.
I think Daphne isn’t the monster. She was probably mistaken for Sookie. I believe the monster is Eggs. He attacked Sookie when she wanted Tara to move in with her. Daphne has a purpose since she survived the poison.
Hmm… wasn’t Daphne in the books? I think it was her, and she was under the control of someone who made her almost nearly kill Sookie correct me if I’m wrong
I need to re-read the series after I finish Kim Harrison’s series for the fifth time
i dont think that daphne is evil as if you look at the episode 4 trailer, at the end someone whispers into someones ear “i know what you are”, if you pause this you will see it is daphne saying it to a dark haired woman which is maryann. so what does daphne want from/to do with maryann?
you also see sam punches a guy at the front of what looks to be sookies house so daphne couldnt have killed him. you also see jason has a prank played on him he is tackled to the ground by a guy wearing a blue jumper then you see him punch the guy that doesnt like him in the god group. if you pause it you will see he is wearing the blue jumper. so what happens with jason? do you think he will become a hunter?
In response to Violatrix… Daphne was not a character in the book. I think you are mistaking her for Tanya who was sent by Sandra Pelt (werewolf sister of Debbie Pelt) And yea i was thinking perhaps that this Daphne is similar to that of Tanya’s character…like some sort of shapeshifter that was attracted to Sam.
Something interestin about the pan theory, Daphnis was one of pans students. Pan was known for increasing sexuality and panic among people
Gare great hint. Daphnis sounds like Daphne too!
i think that daphne is a werewolf. sam and sookie had that talk about them when he told her he was a shape shifter. I think that the poisen didnt kill daphne because she is a werewolf and meybe she is immune to it. As for maryanne…. she is some kind of freak, but i dont think she is the monster. i think the monster is a new character we havnt seen yet. but i still think daphne is a werewolf.
is it me or does Daphne look A LOT like Grace Newlin? delibrate?-perhaps Daphne is the sister she mentioned…
Maryanne is a maenad, an i believe daphne is a shifter/were or somehting around there because she knows about sam. Maryanne’s servant is obviously the pig
I believe Daphne is somehow connected to maryann. I think maryann is the monster and feels threatened by sookies relationship with terra and something else. I also think Daphne is working with Maryann and will betray sam later.
If you’ve read the books. Maryann is the Maenad mentioned in book 2 of the series. Daphne is just a waitress with no agenda or any special abilities or scratches on her back. She just holds a very small part and gets fired/quits Merlottes.
In the True Blood series, I believe that somehow Daphne is connected to Maryann, which is yet to be seen on the show. Maryann is threatened by Sookie’s relationship with Sam, Tara and the like. If you google Maenad, the “qualities” and “traits” of a maenad fit perfectly with that of Maryann, seen thus far in the True Blood Series.
Thanks for the Maenad reference, everyone. I read all the books but it’s been a few months and I couldn’t remember exactly what the creature that almost killed Sookie was or in which book. I agree that Maryann definitely fits the description. From tonights episode, looks like Daphne is a shifter but I have a bad feeling about her.
Has anyone else noticed the werewolf references? Like when Maryanne told Sam he truely is not the alpha type? I keep noticing little things that she says that foreshadow something involving werewolves. Perhaps Daphne was mauled by one which explains why she survived and has the scars. I highly doubt the mysterious monster is a minotaur and I think a demon is a bit over the top too. I think Lafayette should turn vampire, Jason Stackhouse needs to bang the hell out of that cult leader’s wife, and Eric should just come out and say that Godric is his 2,000 year old lover.
You are right about Eric. He is totally sweet for Godric. If people read the books, it might ruin the show for them since a lot of the show follows the books in some senses.
Yeah, but there is alot of differences also from the books and the TV Show.

…Has Anyone Of You Even Read The Books?
Maryanne Is The ‘Monster’ You are Refering to, She Is A Meanad.
(In The Book She Was A Beautiful Yet Barbaric Looking, That And Being Naked..)
I have read the books!
I don’t think anyone can call themselves a true ‘TrueBlood’ / Sookie Stackhouse fan until they have read the books. People are asking questions left right and centre about ‘who is this?’ or ‘who is that?’. Come on guys just read the books! It doesn’t spoil the show at all. The show is quite different. The books are so good you really shouldn’t miss out on them! They are addictive to the extreme!
I read all of the books, one a day, until I finished them all… and I ADORED them! It wasn’t until after I read the books that I decided to watch the show. It barely even follows the books, but it is pretty good, I guess. I’ll continue watching, and I definitely advise you all read the books if you haven’t! They are amazing!
I can’t wait until the next book is out!
