Episode 7, Release Me – LOTS OF QUESTIONS!
What a sick episode! I’ve got a whole load of new questions after watching Episode 7: Release Me.
- Was Godric really being held captive?
- Why did Maryann have Eggs kill Daphne?
- Why did Sam look so freaked out when he saw Eggs in the bar?
- Who snatched the telepath from the hotel hallroom?
- Why did Sarah tranq Jason?
- They finally explained what Maryann is, now I’d like to know what Andy Bellefleur is, since he wasn’t affected by her spell (like Sam and Daphne).

I think Sarah tranq’ed Jason because she thinks he is a traitor. Her husband had just told her about Sookie.
Hadn’t Andy been under MaryAnn’s spell before? When she came into the bar one night, she made everyone dance including Andy. I don’t think he is anything special. He just happened upon the party chasing the pig.
I’m confused about Godric as well. Eric flew out of the hotel room after hearing Sookie was in trouble. I thought he would be the one to save her. Godric just came out of nowhere. It could have been Bill’s maker that snatched the telepath, but I’m hoping it was Jessica and/or Hoyt.

I think that Maryann’s spell didn’t affect Andy because she didn’t notice him. When Tara and Eggs came to the meadow and saw that orgy, they weren’t affected by the spell until Maryann noticed them.
Sam looked freaked out b/c Eggs is the one that was holding him down at the fire where Maryann was going to kill him.
It was either Bill’s maker or Jessica that grabbed the telepath, it came from that side of the hall… Most likely Bill’s maker.
I predict that Godric was being held captive, but was possibly captured by something that was not human as Eric has hinted at. I think possibly Eric wanted to be the one to save Sookie, but he wouldn’t have had Godric do it then. Plus Sookie read all their minds saying they had him captive in the basement.
Andy has been affected by Maryann before, I think he just came in during it and her she didn’t notice him yet, so her attention was no focused on him yet…just like with Eggs and Tara when they first walked up. Tara also wasn’t affected by her at the pool party at the old place, she ran off before she could be.
I want to know if Eric and them will go after Maryann now.
Maryann is going to have it in for Sookie as well, she knows she “special” now or something.
Maryann attacked her, she was healed that night. Later Sookie went into Merlotte’s to ask Tara to live with her and she “met” Maryann. Maryann made the comment “I see what you mean, she is special” or something along those lines. So also perhaps when Sookie read her mind she was trying to “hex” Sookie or command her or something b/c she thought she has “infected” her like she did to Daphne. Just a guess… have no idea
Ooh, I like your thinking about Maryann and Sookie! That’s intriguing. I hope something along those lines develops.
Read my review of episode 7 comments in another topic. We came to many of the same conclusions.
Well, obviously Eggs killed Daphne to pass the blame on Sam. If you remember Maryanne has all of Sam’s clothes, boots and wallet. Evryone thinks Sam is w/Daphne, so if she is found murdered, the Witch Docter is dead in his bar parking lot and they made the “funny” ststement in the first episode thaqt it was a “collaboration of an animal and human” combo. Maryanne will make Sam public & Bon Temps sherrif will have no choice. I believe that Andy will save Sam in the end as he has now “seen the light as they say.” p.s. Andy has been affected @ least twice, once in the bar when he was dancing, and when he shoved the cake in his mouth on Tara’s B-Day. Just like Egges and Tara, Andy wasn’t affected when he first walked up & Maryanne hadn’t finished her Druid dance.

Agreed, the Bon Temps keystone kops find Daphne’s heartless body (wonder if she had much of one to begin with—related to Pam?) in or near Merlotte’s. The honorable Sam doesn’t resist arrest. Hmmmm, easy target for Maryann.
………or is it? Remember, he can bird out between those bars when the mood hits. Ironic, that they couldn’t pin it on Jason, LOL.

I think Eggs killed Daphne because he was being controlled by Maryanne at the time — he didn’t know he was doing it; just like he didn’t know what went on at that clearing (when Tara and Eggs went for the hot water part). If you watch the segment again, you’ll see that Eggs eyes are black just like they are when Maryanne is controlling everyone at the orgies.
Amen to that.
*SPOILERS*Godric was definitely not being held captive, at least not according to the book, the television show may have changed the plot a bit to make it seem that way however.
Eric grabbed Barry. period.
Eric was already halfway to the fOTS institute when Barry was grabbed.

You are right, Godric in the books decides to end his existene. He is repentful and want to participate in a ritual of the FOTS and meet the sun.
Godric in the books is sexually attracted to children. Sookie muses that as a human he would be seen as a child molester and a serial killer. He himself thinks he needs to be put down.
The FOTS gets attacked in the mean-time by vampires, Godric escapes. He decides to meet the sun the followng say anyway. Sookie pays him the respect by witnessing his end.

Did Godric really atone? He seems content to let the FOTS offer up Eric as a sacrifice with a truckload of silver on him. No wonder Eric had the little crazy man by the neck at the altar. Steve should die or do some atoning himself (OR BOTH), for nothing is more dangerous than a church official killing in the name of his religion or political gain. Maybe give him the Jason choice, say a prayer because you are going to hell, and you are going…today.
The FOTS is about to be ground into bloodless fossil fuel, bury, lots of pressure and wait 50 million years. He was also seen behind Sarah twice in the daylight as she was welcoming the lock-in congregation into the church. I stilled it, and he was wearing the sweats he wore as he pulled Gabe off of Sookie.
Spoiler–should have said Godric was seen behind Sarah. Talking in shorthand as my mom says. This ability is not unique, as our buddy Lestat did it in that Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice. Hey, Eric can fly, why can’t Godric sunlight after 2000 years? Could also explain why Eric is having a silver wardrobe malfunction, sunlight might not kill Godric anymore. In season ones closer, Bill was exposed, did a little dirt time, fed, and he was calling on Sookie that night…and hes only 174.

I don’t think that was Godric. He looked like him, but the whole ritual of “Meeting The Sun” would be no good. Then again, maybe he did walk around unnoticed.

Eric passed Barryfrom behind, creatind a backdraft as Barry tried to look after him.Eric has left the building. He was facing away from the Bill and Lorena door when LORENA grabbed him.
It’s reported that during filming there was one scene being shot for episode 9 where a vampire was standing on top of the hotel burning in the sunlight. sounds like it’s prob going to end up being godric
Yeah — I think Eric grabbed Barry as well. He probably needs him to find Sookie and Godric and he knows that Sookie can communicate with Barry now.
Did anybody else start laughing hysterically when Hoyt was setting up the bedroom for Jessica and “Bleeding Love” was playing in the background? that was HILARIOUS. i almost died from laughing so hard.
god i like died, not from laughter tho, from pain. the gas station i work at has 6 songs it keeps on a loop so in a ten hour shift i hear that song like 13 times, so the fact that it was on there i was like noooooooooooooooooo

I thought it was hilarious how he was like, i ain’t never done it with a girl, and she had this disgusted face and she was like, what have you done it with?
Kind of sentimental in a sappy kind of way. Loved him fumbling with his pants. In my case, many moons ago, it was a bottle of champ and beers that wouldn’t open the way it was intended to be…and a ringing phone…..good times. But the “Bleeding Love” song was one my then fiancee wanted to play last year for our almost public wedding (later privatized in chapel because of –you guessed it–in-laws). But I remember how special I wanted that time to be, and you really can’t knock sincerity. My wife isn’t much of a TB fan, but she got a warm spot from the Bleeding song, and likes it when I imitate Jason’s “sweet stuff” lines (unmasked). Shes not so crazy about my Bill imitations, but she likes the way I loom over people like Eric does, I’m as tall and thin but slightly appearance challenged for Hollywood. Imminent sex for the young does lead to certain degrees of clumsiness before and after.

Sam looked freaked out because he remembered Eggs holding him down, but Eggs didn’t and was just like “What’s up Sam?” Probably the same with everyone else.
I think that Sara tranqed Jason because she’s trying to cover her ass or something like that; she probably got threatened by her man and he got some truth out of her.
I think it was Bill’s maker that grabbed Barry…. but why?

The thing with Godric though, is that on some of the episode summaries that have been put up on wikipedia, it says he takes the blame for what happens with the FOTS. – remember in the Comic Con trailer where the woman who’s always participating in the vampire interviews (her name escapes me) says something like “this is a pr disaster” – so I’m thinking potentially, they’ve changed Godric’s plot so that he was actually captured, and he takes the blame for whatever is going to happen in the FOTS. church (potentially an absolute massacre of those stupid humans) because it happened in the area he’s Sheriff of.
Also, I’m not this far into the book, but does Eric try to sacrifice himself for Godric’s freedom in the book? As this could potentially hint at how they’ve altered the plot somewhat for the show. They might have taken out the aspect of him being attracted to children cause it could maybe be a little too controvertial maybe? I dunno. Just speculating ^__^

In the books Eric doesn’t go to FOTS. Sookie makes friends with a female supe who helps her get out. Godric actually went to committ suicide the vampire way.
i think he goes to the fellowship center to free farrell (kidnapped vamp in book, not in the show- the kind of combined 2 characters) after sookie escapes and help bill give her first aid

Okay, so I think Andy wasn’t affected because Maryann didn’t try to affect him. When she saw Tara and Eggs, she stopped and started again, but she didn’t do that when Andy came over. Lorena was the one that snatched Barry from the hallway. He turned around and she reached out and grabbed him. And I don’t think Sarah tranquilized Jason, she shot him with one of those paintball guns that he was shooting at the posters when he was with Steve.

As far as i know Andy is just human…i been reading the books, the only bad thing is, i really dont know the order they go and that is why im reading at random. the only thing i know is that Andy is related to Bill Compton…remember the episode from season 1 when that waitress (name escapes me) was found dead, Andy and Sheriff Bud Dearborne went to Bill’s house to ask him questions…when Andy introduced himself the last name Bellefleur sounded familiar to Bill.
Trueblood is a great series…and yes, they have change somethings from the books but so far to me only been minor things. what surprised me the other day is that in the world of trueblood Elvis Presley is a Vampire. He was turned at the morgue. The Vampire society keeps him hidden for his obvius recognizable face…Amazing ain’t it?

How is it that Lafayette is so onto Eggs when he first sees him in the bar? He is also doing something between Tara and Eggs in the preview for next week. Is Eric’s blood that good or is Lafayette a “supe” also?
i dont think Lafayette’s a sup, i think he’s just trying to warn Tara, his cousin, that he’s just a lil too cute to be good for her…..most likely drawing from his own experiences, but we shall see.
And from the way he reacted to the vampires, I am almost sure that Lafayette has no super powers other than being fabulous.
I think that’s a glimpse of the old Lafayette who flirted with everyone carrying a y-chromosone.
If u watch some previews for the next show it show sookie in be with someone and they have blond hair i think it is eric cause they say eric gets into sookies head.I think godric got kidnaped but when the fellowship was ging to start a war and godric gave himself up to save the vamp world.But eric gives himself up cause he dont want godric dead.I think it is jessica that gets barry.Next episode is going to be good.
I am not sure if the preview you posted about is for the next episode. I think it will come up in a later episode. And I hope Sookie in bed with someone blond is just in a dream sequence.

I don’t think so that Barry was snatched by Lorena, as she was holding Bill, and his rooms’ door is on the left side, and Barry was snatched to the door on the right side. I’m not sure, just my opinion

Lafayette AND Sam seem to be tuned to Eggs radar. Different reasons to be sure, but why didn’t Sam corral Andy somewhere to get his slant on the ritual orgy, etc. Lafayette’s radar is tuned because of his dungeon experience at Fangtasia. Andy would have been able to compare notes about a pig sighting with Sam at least. Sam would have to be an utter fool to go after Eggs and maybe seems content to lay low, vear in mind that Eggs did attempt to kill him and actually killed Daphne……..plus that half memory picking up the heater part..maybe of the false exorcist being killed there. K thats it for now.

—This entire season has been -far- from the books. In the book, Godric follows another vampire (who I just can’t wait to see!!! Actually, it’s supposed to be that vampire, that kills the bodyguard–who is supposed to be young– when he is trying to rape Sookie, not Godric… Cause, you notice, in the show– Godric looked nothing like the flashback Eric had of him… ooooh!). Anyway. Godric is coerced into going to the Fellowship of the Sun by this “mystery vampire”, and overpowered into staying there. Godric liked the fellas. XP And, by the way, in the book Stan IS the Sheriff, and he is NERDY, not a studly cowboy!!!!

—I believe Maryann felt her purpose has been used up, so Daphne was no longer needed. Too, Daphnee spilled the beans to Sam about what Maryann is; I think Maryann liked the mystery, as it just drove Sam crazier!

—I’m not too sure. I can only speculate that it was Eggs who was trying to kill Sam at that ‘party’. I can’t remember, but I’m pretty sure it was Eggs that helped Daphnee bring Sam to Maryann, once he had entered the circle.

—I’m speculating it’s Bill’s Maker (can’t remember her name, or how to spell it). She grabbed him so that Bill wouldn’t get the message. Unknown to her, Eric already got it! Then again, it could have been Eric that grabbed Barry the Bellboy, so he could gather more information, in private.

—She thought that Jason had betrayed her and God by being in league with his sister and their crazy plan. Her husband only told her what he believed, being that Jason was in line with Sookie and they were a team, trying to take down the Fellowship. Sarah thought Jason was using her to further his plans; a woman in love scorned, in a woman dangerous! Stupid people really should get more information before jumping to conclusions without evidence!

—There is the fact that Andy showed up to the party late. He was also heavily influenced by alcohol, which … have you really seen the people at the parties drinking? Disregard that, actually. But he showed up late to the party. But here’s my explanation: Andy is just plain stupid. He also isn’t blind to everything that goes on. He’s one of the very few that believe Sookie can actually read minds, further along he’ll be integral to several plot lines involving more Supes and Weres… I really think that he isn’t as susceptible to persuasion. That’s all Maryann is; a persuader. Like the Devil, she tempts you. Well, Andy doesn’t want things; he just wants to find that damn pig! (Lmao, I laughed so hard at that part!!)
Also: no, no, no! I don’t know what the show is going to do, but in the book, Eric is pretending he is someone else (so Stan and them don’t recognize him), he doesn’t go anywhere near the FotS, Lorena isn’t in the picture yet, and as someone said, a Supe helps Sookie escape—– along with the help of the vampire whose name I can’t remember!! He is covered in tattooes and totally dreamy, I think. He has lost his want for ‘life’. He is a suicidal vampire, who is taking Godric down with him. He is apathetic, and a real murderer. He kills without any notice he is doing it. He squeezes the bodyguard so hard that his neck or spine snaps and just continues holding the dead man– without even realizing what happened. He is so old and ancient and powerful. He is absolutely amazing. He wanted to “meet the sun” as they say, because he has been told that all of his actions over the years are bad, and so he figures that he should probably die. So, why not let the FotS get a ceremony out of it. And why not drag Godric along for the ride.
UGH.
******** I would like to make a formal complaint that the series has strayed so far past the books, unlike the first season, which followed quite closely (with the exclusion of Tara, really). So why is it that the director decided to stray so far this time? Several key elements have been changed so far beyond recognition that even I and my friends, who have read the entire series, were left speculating. Is that why the did it? So we wouldn’t be able to predict the happenings?
The book was far better than this. This is purely entertaining to watch– not a work of art come to life, as it should have been. They’ve changed so much, I’m not even sure where they’re going with it. I can’t see how it will be believable (that is, how they will explain the events now, to the ones that will come; how they will do the transition). Bollocks, I say!

Exactly why I refer to the books only in a general background sort of way. The summaries of all nine books are on wikipedia. The plot had diverged so much from books that I only speculate on near future possibilities, and base them on general HBO spoiler previews, early issued synopses, which I can break down given previews, and often by reading all of your insights on the website. I’ll generally watch an episode three times, see a preview or two, and gloss over comments both here and on youtube. Lots to do when your wife is entertaining friends, passes time well.
As the Magister says, “There’s no help for you child!!!!!” Only Alan Ball really knows how the rest of the season and season 3 will develop.

in book two living dead in dallas, the reason sookie goes to dallas is a vampire named Farrel
is missing, he is the one dressed as a cowboy, the sheriff stan who dresses like a geek, sends sookie to the fots with hugo, when they arrive they are captured in the basement when the gaurd trys to rape sookie it is Godric who saves her, he is the blond vamp with the tatoos, that help capture Farrel because he wants to die and is taking another vamp down with him, all for the fots amuzement.
hugo who is the traitor is thrown into the cell with ferrel and killed.

they have switched the characters Stan and Ferrel, at least in their dress, and made Godric a sheriff, and Erics maker.
i believe that Godric is still there under his own will, wanting to die, thats why he says its his fault.
ohh and btw Sara didnt trank jason, she shot him with the paint ball Gun that Jason and Steve were useing,

godrick- the name of the vamp w/ tattoos is. he is the pedophile serial killer(attracted to young boys) who looks about 16 but is really much older than eric (dont remember age i think he is 2000 yrs) assisted in the kidnapping of another vamp(farrell, wound up saving sookie from gabe when he tried to rape her, also helps her escape, ‘meets the sun’ at the end of the book

stan- dresses like a nerd (fake glasses, pocket protectors), sheriff of area 6 in texas
I think you should have asked the question:
“Who is the man/vampire that killed Gabe (bodyguard)?”
Because it wasn’t Godric. Godric, in the flashback as seen by Eric, appears to be semi-Asian. Those dark brown eyes. Different tattoos, I think. The man we saw for a split second, is like, blonde.
So how did he get out? Obviously a place as powerful as the FotS would have doors that would securely keep a vampire contained– and use silver chains. So duh. If you want a bit of a spoiler, read my previous post, for the answer to this question. XP
I just don’t understand why whether or not Godric was being held captive or not, was a question to ask. Remember, Eric said that the Godric he knew, wouldn’t be taken by anything human.
I agree totally -actually after watching Hard-Hanna…..I actually looked thru the book to make sure that Lorena didnt show up till the 3rd book and in a completely different state.

Jesslyn, I disagree. The guy that interfers and attackes Gabe is Godric played by Allan Hyde. The tattos are idendical. Judging from the tattoos he wasn’t from Asia but Europe: there were runes on his left arm.
He lookes different in the dark, though.

Someone said something about Maryanne going after Sookie because she is special, I think there is to much going on in the series to put in more, although that would explain the thing that attacked sookie in the woods.

Does it not seem as her main intent is Tara and Eggs, something is bound to be happening as she want them to have child it seems. I think Maryanne is trying to turn Tara into a version of herself.
the whole mary ann thing is about Sam, shes mad becasue sam left her, he got away, she cant stand it, she attacked sookie cause she hurt sam, sam liked sookie and she dumped him for a dead guy, she is useing tara to attack sam cause she knows that sam had feelings for her too, also she used daphine to gain sams trust as bait so she could get sam, but after sam escaped and no longer trusted daphine she had no more use for daphine so she killed her,
