Godric

We all saw how Godric interacts with his fellow vampires, and to me he seems nice and friendly and smart about his ways of being a sherif…..but the way he acts with his fellow vampires is slightly……well odd.

It maybe his old ways but why does he seem so stand-offish to his fellow vampires? Is it just me seeing him act like this?

He acts friendly to vampires and humans but just doesnt seem that he likes to be around either of them.

Why do you think this is? Or is it somthing different in the way he acts? Let me know!

    1. Kaylynn says:

I think over 2,000 years he’s grown weary of it. You can tell by his conversation with Eric. He sort of has that, “I’ve seen it all” feel. There’s a definite change in him from who he was in the flashback and who he was in say, episode 8, he’s tired of what he sees as needless. Think back and compare how he judged Hugo to how Bill was judged back in Season 1 by the area leader. All the blood and fighting doesn’t hold his interest anymore and he’s grown to resent the brutality around him.

      • That’s exactly it. He also said that the problem is that vampire’s haven’t evolved for the better. He can definitely start the movement. Charismatic character!

      • Lannette says:

You are absolutely correct. Godric has seen it all. He has witnessed all of the turmoil of humanity’s ugly side of ignorance:The Holocaust, slavery, war, the infamous Salem witch trials and every form of fear and bigotry. He is fully aware that regardless of our indifferences if we don’t learn to coeist together peacefully all species will perish. He knows that hatred and violence keeps the world in an everlasting suspension of emotional and spiritual growth.

    2. Nikki says:

      Godrick is the hottest!

    3. M.W. says:

I think its exactly as Kaylynn said.

Hell, after 2000 years I would certainly get tired of it all.

    4. killherkai says:

Immortality gets boring especially if he’s been around longer then Jesus. He seemed to be more vibrant and full of enthusiasm back when he turned Eric. I hope he gets his grrrr back because his character will get dull eventually if I have to hear another humans and vampires speech. I did like it when he grabbed Lorena by the throat though he probably though ;) still got it.

    5. Heather says:

People (and apparently vampires) don’t change. We’ve all been doing the same petty stupid stuff for thousands of years and poor godric has had to witness it all. It’s like living perpetually in high school.

    6. Jane says:

I think it is definately about living for so long and you know the last episode where Eric sat by him he had this look about him which suggested that he felt as though it was time to meet the sun.
Not all vampires can handle living that long and I couldn’t imagine exactly what it would be like, I think Eric has handled living so long because of his sense of humour and his businesses perhaps.

    7. FuzyMALK says:

I think Godric would make an perfect undead paladin ! SALUBRI CALN!!jz kidding ! I think Kaylynn is right to some point but have you considered that maybe he wanted to be that vampire that evolves into something greater than the others of his kine!As seen in ep 8 he needs no blood!Suicidal…………maybe ,or he gained the control over his thirst! after all he is 2000 years old……..hes an acient or what ever….i havaent read the book ,but i am going to, so i dont know the Vampire tittles …it would be cool if someone would expl. it to me! Thnx

    8. louis says:

i think in my opinion that godric is like the old vampires from anne rice books
when they get really old they dont need a lot of sleep or blood they can survive and their blood becomes more powerfull
and they start to hate being around other vampires
they like to be around humans so they can feel their feelings

    9. memnoch_meg says:

My thoughts are certainly in the same vein as Kaylynn’s. I also think that perhaps Godric hasn’t been so lucky as Bill and (probably) Eric. I think that for them, being around someone like Sookie has a revitalizing effect, and perhaps Godric hasn’t experienced that. And even if he has, that person doesn’t seem to be around now, and perhaps hundreds of years of compounded grief, loneliness and emotional solitude are pressing heavily on him. Godric seems to have an idealistic streak in him, and I’d expect that the only way to really cope many lifetimes worth of dissapointment would be to distance yourself from anything that might touch you, be it good or bad.

      • I am absolutely lovin Godric. Now that his nest has been attacked by the Fellowship of the Son and blood is now called for… I hope the multifacted personality of the 2000 plus year old Godric comes forth.

    10. Dee says:

SPOILER–Godric book vs screen (safe to read after “I Will Rise Up” airs)

After all the changes HBO has made that annoy me, in particular those to Eric’s personal history and behavior, I very much approve of their changes to Godric. We had a child molester last season and have no need of another so soon. Even one who’s developed a conscious (both book and screen). When we first met him, I wondered if Vercingetorix had had a son named Godric. Besides, I have historian’s lust for Godric’s tattoos. I want him to remain in the HBO storyline.

Let’s just hope that HBO made the most important change for Godric. But if it seems they didn’t, and he grabs Luke, remember two things: there’s a vampire in book 7 who works on a police bomb squad, because he’s unlikely to die in an explosion; vampires can recover from the most egregious wounds but it may take a long, long time (even missing limbs will grow back after a few months). There are very few ways to kill one of Harris’s vampires: staking, a severe case of sino-AIDS, prolonged exposure to the sun, decapitation, and possibly (readers don’t know yet) a severe case of silver poison.

I also really, really hope they don’t omit the pivotal scene between Sookie and Eric that happens after the Fellowship attacks the party (not a bomb in the book). And I don’t mind that they made Godric into Eric’s maker–readers aren’t yet attached to Eric’s real maker–so long as they find a way to include the sweet and poignant story that Eric tells Sookie much later about his human life and family when he was turned. It reveals much about what book Eric has retained of his human personality.

    11. teencutie says:

I love this vampire. His personality is really mature ( well he is really old is the show.) and he has a lot of “humanity” He doesnt liek a bunch of blood shed or just killing off people. He’s also very wise. Godric is hot too. Haha. It was also good of him to turn up when he did and prevent sucky from getting raped. That man was a bitch with a dick.

    12. abbie. says:

gawwddd. GODRICK IS SEXY. i personally think he’s the best looking vampire in the show. he’s even better looking then edward cullen. nottt a opinion,, it’sa fact(:

    13. AlucarD says:

If they don’t win an award for the acting by Allan Hyde OMG… I can’t believe the power such a humble seeming vamp can exude. You can totally understand Eric’s attachment and “love” he has for him. The final scene stopped my heart for a minute, as a str8 man I was totally on the verge of tears as he chose his way. I still think Eric is a slime BUT, I also can understand alot of his thinking.
      FATHER
      BROTHER
      SON!!

p.s. Eric needs his own prodigy as Godric did, his friend, companion and loyal partner through the centuries…….

    14. sk8rEve says:

I think that with Godric because he came from a different time, and era. His experience and life from prior and through up to current. He has seen the evolution, and more then likely from his time it was much different. He offered the vampire life to Eric, when Lorena forced it on Bill, and he on Jessica.

Personally, I believe that thinking maybe from his perspective he has seen how their life/vampirism had gone wrong. He knew that it was too far gone to change, and he tired of it. He really was regretting of his life. He asked Sookie before he died if she believed in God, which leads me to believe that he was somewhat repentant of his actions and wanted redemption, from his life.

    15. Nina says:

what episode is Godric in? aside from the one where he exits in season 2?
