HBO’s True Blood: A Smorgasbord of Good -N- Plenty For All

True Blood’s season 2 premiere averaged close to 4 million viewers, making it the network’s most-watched program since the series finale of The Sopranos two years ago.
Alan Ball, the mastermind behind American Beauty and HBO’s Six Feet Under, has indeed outdone himself. Each episode is brilliantly written and never disappoints. You just know and trust that Alan Ball has it all figured out and will tie up everything. All our questions and confusion will clear up. Since the series is proving to greatly differ from the books, I have complete faith Alan Ball will keep viewers surprised shocked and craving for more. We will wonder, “How did he do that?”
The cast has an amazing chemistry. They seem to glide smoothly from scene to scene, episode to episode, just like a bottle of Tru:Blood down a vamp’s throat.
After the introduction of the main characters in season 1, we now see secondary characters developing and intertwining with the residents of Bon Temps, LA. I am thoroughly enjoying Jessica and Hoyt’s blossoming romance. How will Bill keep his sanity being Jessica’s maker? How will this impact on the relationship between Bill and Sookie?
Maryann’s presence is surely impacting on poor Tara. Will Tara heed Sam’s warnings? It appears as though Maryann is using Eggs, Daphne and others as pawns to do her dirty work.
Jason’s role in season 2 is vastly different than season 1. I believe I like the “old” Jason better. Let’s hope he leaves the Fellowship of the Sun swiftly. I’m looking for something from those Newlins, something evil would suit them.
Be sure to tune in this Sunday night for the first three episodes back-to-back. I’ll be watching closely, hoping to pick up on any nuances I might have missed.

How do you know Daphne is being used as Maryann’s pawn? Is there a relation between them that I don’t know about…
Did I miss something? :/
When I saw Daphne at Maryann’s party “orgy,” downing whatever it was she was drinking, and when she mysteriously showed up at the lake where Sam was with those scratches on her back, they could be tied together. Also, when Maryann was at Merlotte’s and Daphne was delivering her food, I felt there was some type of connection between them.
Deb, maybe you´re right.
But im not sure if was Daphne in the party at all…
Yes, now I remember the scene when the blond girl(Daphne?) was pouring something red (wine?)all over her face…and drinking it too….was it really Daphne? Eyes wierd like from the others….
But also, those scratches were quite long time healed….I dont think the monster have had mistaken Daphne for Sookie…it happend ages ago(to Daphne)….I think.
the true blood series is good but completely different 2 the books and to be honest i prefer the books
The Girl at the party drinking the wine was most definately not Daphne……I agree though that the books are much better than the show…I do enjoy the show but the stories are really starting to be just wierd and too hollywood….And names are being thrown into the wrong situations…..but I guess you have to add stuff for effect in hollywood…..
