How did you get introduced?

  • Author: Kaili | Category: True Blood News

  • So as I sat here watching True Blood I was thinking about how I got into True Blood. So my question is how were you introduced to True Blood? Did you read the books and got super excited when they made the show, did you stumble across the show one day and love it, or someway else? I think it would be fun to find out how everyone came to be acquainted with Sookie, Bill, Eric, Jason and the rest of the gang.

true-blood-seasonThe way I was introduced to it was when my best friend came up to me one day and said: “Kaili I have a book I think you would want to read” I was instantly hooked. So from Dead Until Dark to Dead And Gone I have read every book and when I found out they were making it into a show I freaked out and forcibly made my dad order HBO just so I could watch it.

I have not read the books but I really want to. I had heard of the show before and thought it sounded like something I would like, however, it was all the advertisement in Entertainment Weekly that pushed me to look it up. I happened across this wonderful site and watch every episode available. I loved it and am now excited for sundays like never before.

I actually can’t remember how I was introduced. I remember looking up someone on IMDB.com, saw the True Blood listing and then watched the first season on youku.com. And I’ve tried to reach back and remember what the hell it was I was originally looking up, but I just can’t. After falling in love Bill (and of course everyone else) I got my friend Brit addicted to it, and bought all the books. The show is completely amazing, it doesn’t even bother me that it’s straying from the books!! And I love this site because I can’t afford HBO, show it’s great that I have another source to watch season 2!!!

    3. Melitta says:

I saw the first Epi of Season one while babysitting for some friends from there I read all of the books got caught up on the whole first seson and am still hooked for season 2

I love youku.com! It doesn’t bother me either that it is straying from the books. The only thing I can’t stand is not knowing what is happening!!! Lol

      Hey, Kaili!

I first started watching it when it was well into season 1 already… I caught it on HBO accidentally and went online to watch the whole season 1. I read the books only after I started watching the show… I gotta say the show is way better than the books. It’s got much more wit, because the authors of the show really expanded the whole universe, so it becomes a satire of society… there’s this one scene in season 1 which totally won me over, the camera rolls over someone’s living room and there’s People magazine with the title “Angelina Adopts Vampire Baby”… LOL. precious.

I new about it when I was looking for videos of Twilight on YouTube and Google and I stumble with TB, furthermore a friend of mine told me about it and then I found this site, therefore I watch it always! I like it…

I got into it after I found twilight. A couple of my friends told me about the books so i started reading them. I was obsessed for days. Then I stumbled on this site and watched the first season and I love it! I am interested to see how the second season goes since they are changing things from the books. Seems like some of the biggests parts of the second book may not happen in the show? IDK I love it anyway!

    11. Elisabeth says:

haha, ok believe it or not, it was my parents who really got me into the show. I live with my fiance and we went home to visit and my mom was like . . .” have you seen this show True Blood??’… she went on and on for ever about! So then she tells me, “there is an encore on tonight!!”, and it happens to be the episode where Jason is arrested and he has the vile of V in the police car! Ok, it was really awkward watching Jason, ahhhh well you know with my parents in the room!

But I really loved it and ended up getting the books! I am slightly disappointed that the show doesn’t follow the books, at all. But still I really enjoy it!!

    12. KLS says:

Now that I know there is a book, I definitely want to read it. I was introduced pretty late into the game, but quickly caught up thanks to this site. One night I was up late and caught the episode where Tara’s mom got the exorcism. I was hooked right then….after just one episode. I knew I had to see them all. Luckily I was able to get caught up on this site, and will be a viewer from now on. My husband doesn’t like scary movies, shows, etc. I think I can convert him as well though :0)

    13. Izzy says:

      Hey everyone!

This is Izzy! I’m the one that got Kaili into the books. I was in Waldenbooks looking around for some new books, when the person working there suggested it. So I grabbed the first two books and started reading.

I guess you can thank me for introducing Kaili to the books. :)

I was like, “Hey Kaili! You HAVE TO READ THIS!!”

She borrowed Dead Until Dawn, and it FOREVER until I got the book back…and then some dumb bitch stole it, but whatever, that’s not the point….

Anyway, to all of you new readers: The key is to enjoy the series, both the television one, and the books. Keep reading!

And Mikki, I gotta tell you: The show makes up a lot of stuff that isn’t in the books. I guess it’s artistic license, but it’s all false. But if you like the series, then that’s your opinion. But the books are much better.

    14. Courtney says:

I hadn’t seen the first episode at all on HBO but in mid may 2009 I saw the first episode on HBO and I was instantly hooked. I then proceeded to look up how to watch it online and I stumbled across this fantastic site where I watched every episode of season one before watching the season 2 episodes on HBO.

    15. CiarĂ¡n says:

i got introduced to the show about 2 weeks ago i was on tvshack.com and on the main page it has top things watched and it was true blood so i decided to watch the first episode and got hooked then watched the whole season on this website in like 2 days. :) im going to buy the books soon

    16. SAG says:

So I am into the whole vampire world, I’ve read the whole twilight saga, therefore I am hooked with vamps. I wanted to read or watch something more adult, My friend told me that there was this show called true blood and that is really good. So I started watching it and seriously the first 10 min I was already in to it. It is all I wanted sexy, mysterious, bad ass

      Great

I was downloading content for the Sims 2 game when I found a set that had something called “TrueBlood” and a buch of posters. I zommed in on the posters and saw the “Fellowship of the Sun” logo and Googled it. I read all about the series and got hooked, even though I had never seen any of the shows. Then, a few weeks later, we had a weekend of free HBO and I saw the latest True Blood episode. After that I just serached online and have watched every episode up to the tenth from season one, which I’m trying to get to load right now.

    18. Leah says:

I had saw commercials for it but never really checked it out and then one day i was just looking for some new vamp books to go and buy when i came acrossed a series and my BF Michelle tells me that its connected with True Blood on HBO and how shes completly and utterly in love with it. I can not afford HBO so i just kept google searching and all most gave up until i found this site and was instantly sucked in! Now im a dedicated Trrue Blood fan! God help me soul..lol

    19. Deus says:

I saw Anna Paquin and I think it was Alan Ball on AOTS a while back talking about the show and thought it was pretty cool but completely forgot about it afterwords until i saw that HBO was doing a True Blood marathon on New Years and I was completely hooked. Then I found out that it was a book series through the source of all knowledge, Wikipedia. Im currently borrowing the first 8 books from my friends girlfriend and about to finish the 5th one. And I cant wait until they put Alcide in the show. Him and Eric are my favorite characters.

    20. Yo says:

I was at work ( i work at a group home) and the residents were watching Wheel of Fortune. A commercial came on and one of the residents said “Hey, Yo? You’re into vampires, do you watch this show?” So i paid a little attention to the commercial, it was advertising True Blood Season 2 starting in 3 days on HBO. I told the resident “Nope, don’t get HBO.” and continued with my paperwork. After my shift, i kept getting this nagging memory of the commercial so to calm it, i Googled it. I found that HBO did not have the show streaming so i kept looking and found this site. Started to stream S01E01 and before the opening song was even half done, i was hooked.

I still don’t get HBO so i am VERY grateful for this site, TY TY TY TY!

well, my bf was watching the 1st episode ever and a lot of naked/sex scenes were in it and i told him he wasnt allowed 2 watch it because i had just caught him watching porn behind my back AGAIN! weve been daTING 4 2 YRS I FIGURED ITWOULDVE STOPPED A LONG TIME AGO WHEN I WAS STARTING TO GIVE HIM SEX BUT NO, SO I DIDNT WANT HIM HAVING SHOWS ENCOURAGING IT! BUT I WATCHED SOME OF IT and it was so different from normal vampire shows/movies and i liked that, so when he went to work i finished watching the 1st episode and got sooo hooked that i watched ALL the episodes of season 1 in 3 days and my comp loads soooo slow, its dial up also…when i finished them all i had a month 2 wait 4 the new season 2 begin/….im such a huge fan now!

First introduction to TB was on fox life, as in my country I don’t have HBO. And just saw a commercial of TB and thought that must try watching it(long time hadn’t seen a good tv show). And after I watched seasons’ 1 first two episodes I understood that I can’t stand to see only one episode per week. So I googled and found sites, and this too, were I can watch TB online. And after few days and watched all episodes up to seasons’ 2 first one (even hardly studied for my exam, just few hours gave for it, but passed it very good althought), and it was very sad to realize that now I must wait all week for new episode. And after more googling found out that TB is based on books, from wikipedia got all book titles and downloaded it. I read all 9 books in 2,5 weeks’, it was strange because I was so into books that didn’t felt no disadvantage of reading book in pc.
I like too that show isn’t same as book. It’s interesting and even good as I have read all books but it don’t spoil watching show, as for all changes I don’t know what can happen next(as last episode5 showed, Lorena appeared, in second book she isn’t were). From show I liked Bill very much, but from books I like Eric. In show he is more a bad guy, but I see that maybe we will see in show another side of him.
And now just waiting for new episode and new book(oh my it’s along time till ma)
