True Blood Ratings Stay Strong, but…
True Blood ratings stay strong, but… there’s a new vampire in town. Who else saw the series premiere of The Vampire Diaries (watch it here)?
It got huge ratings: over 5 million, unheard of for a CW show. Personally, I still prefer True BloodSo how is True Blood doing? Sunday night’s episode was seen by 4.3 million viewers, the latest record for the vampire drama, which began its second season in June. The Finale (this weekend!!!!) is going to be way more than The Vampire Diaries 5 mil, but there’s a war a-brewing between fans.
True Blood has two advantages when it comes to the fan wars:
1) we were here first
2) our show is better

it’s not bad, i was expecting to be crap but really it isn’t…i could see myself watching this show.
I thought “Vampire Diaries” was nice enough, but nothing original. Every facet of it can be found in numerous other vampire shows/movies. I’ll probably be watching it, cos it seems to be okay, although it feels a bit like a twilight-copycat-thing.
Only thing I ever watch on CW with any regularity is Supernatural. Personally I think VD is too much like a middle of the way bridge between True Blood and Twilight. I will just stick with True Blood.

i agree, i stick with trueblood…trueblood beats it by a lot. now i was expecting a lot less from it, the only thing i dont like is the whole high school thing…i leave that for the teenagers
i watched it and was very disappointed it is just like twilight even one of the soundtracks was from the movie!!!! i can’t ever bring myself to watch that ever again i’ll just sit here and wait for season 3 of true blood to come on hmpt
i haven’t seen twightlight that’s probably why i believe is good. i dont know it mght turn me off later on but so for ill give it a try.
I feel like Vampire Diaries is like True blood for teens… or younger people, cause its pretty obvious that True blood is a grown up show, you know what i mean? Anyhoo! Thats just my feeling towards it. Its better than Twilight cause more “adults” can relate to going to work every day more then they can remember what it was like to go to high school… no? I don’t know.. that’s why i feel like this show has the other Vampires beat.
Not that the Vampire Diaries was a bad show, it was decent… they made their Vampires look different from the other ones we’ve seen but still not too over the top. Meh! heheh

Eric would no doubt kick Damon’s ass. But I definitely love both shows.
Eh I dunno, I wasn’t all that impressed with Vampire Diaries….the story line was predictable (literally, my friends and I were guessing what they were going to say and then the actors said the exact same thing….lol). But then again, I wasn’t that impressed with True Blood episode 1, so maybe it will grow on me (don’t kill me, I love True Blood now!!!!)
For one, I don’t know if it was just me, but I don’t think the acting was all that great. The only actor I thought was doing a decent job was the sulky, usually-high younger brother.
For two, I’m out of high school and I am sick of hearing of the high school drama. Been there. Done that. Then been there again a million other times with a million other stories….why don’t they come up with something original???? I mean the tall-dark-and-handsome-brooding-hero-with-a-dark-past-who-can’t-resist-the-girl is so way overdone.
Give me a guy who has to work at being smooth, or actually nice and sunny, or one with a sense of humor…..maybe he could have a syndrome where he keeps mistaking ketchup for blood and obssessively eats ketchup! ok, not really, but something different….
High school is one of those things I’d rather not have to look back on once a week so I’ll stick with TrueBlood.
i just think the show is not made to take truebloods viewers…is made for a different kind of viewers, is just CW….CW can’t compete with HBO..that is stupid thinking if anybody thinks that. CW can’t touch subjects or say the things HBO put their hands all over it. let CW show an orgy and see what happens, of course 85% of trueblood audience is not gonna like it cause it’s not made for them. the acting is bad and also the story is more of the same, we are a different generation, those girls that grew up with Hanna montana and iCarly need a cross over and that is what vampire diaries is to me, just another teenage fantasy,,,ohhh he’s sooo cute show.
i prefer true blood too. and i’m pretty sure eric would kick damon’s ass in a fight since eric is much older. compared to a 1000+ years old vampire, damon is.. i don’t know, he’s not even as old as bill, is he? sorry, i haven’t watched the show. i just don’t find it interesting at all after i’ve seen true blood. i agree with PerttyInPunc though. vampire diaries is more like a true blood for teens for reasons we all know (and love! *wink*) and i’m glad i’m old enough to watch TB!! lol
Vampire Diaries was an okay show. I’ll probably continue to watch it, but I definitely prefer to watch True Blood.

Abysmal.
I read the books when they came out in the early 90s. I was tween then, but I still had a special place in my heart for those books and I basically watched the vestiges of my childhood burn away like so much flaming toilet paper for a whole hour. That was 100% pure weapons-grade Balonium.
This following statement was already obvious being that I’m 29 now, but, I have officially, officially outgrown Kevin Williamson and his unnecessarily serious teenagers.

Also… it was just… dead. And that’s saying something considering it’s a show about vampires.
I read vampires diaries 1-4, but i had lost my interset to read book 5. I don’t think i will watch the film.
I do believe Damon would win, at least book-wise, since he had all kinds of super-powers and stuff.
A also don’t get this Twilight rip-off thing at all, since The Vampire Diaries came out back in the 1990s, I think 1992 or 1993.
I watched the season premiere and I didn’t like the fact that they moved so far from the original characters, Mat looks like an idiot and Elena ISN’T a beautiful blond with “lapis-lazuli” colored eyes.

I actually quite like TVD, i am def ganna continue watching the series.
Eric should win since he’s thousand years old and he’s so friggin tall! damon may look scarier but eric way powerful physically and politically
um…just out of curiosity i watched like 30 minutes of it before watching supernatural (my all time fave…trueblood is number2) and the vampire diaries sucks. its way too predictable, boring, copycat, and way too teenager. basically its like twilight on tv, blah. but hey, i’m not bashing the books, im sure they’re “original” haha. yeah i spent the other 30 minutes reading sookie’s fourth book (wishing for eric moments).
I’ve given the Diaries 2 weeks now… it is cheesy, its predictable – but as long as “Boone” is there I will probably watch. Plus, for me (I am a HUUUUGGGEE Supernatural fan) I will give the CW as much love as I can – but, there is no comparison. True Blood blows it away as far as actual drama and draw… how can you NOT love the series? (yeah, I’m gonna keep watching VD’s, just cuz Ian Sumerhalder is hot, and I’m easy like that….)
Vampire Diaries like Twilight is for the tweens and hi-schoolers. Not much substance to keep you wanting more.
