True Blood Star Tries Directing
Carrie Preston’s new film is all set!
The actress, who plays Arlene Fowler on the supernatural series, just did That’s What She Said, a film she directed and has become an entry at The Sundance Film Festival, and she is more than happy about it. Who wouldn’t be thrilled at the prospect of having your film honored at a prestigious event?
The first time director calls her movie a chick flick, but also says that “it’s not for pussies!” That’s What She Said is a depiction of a friendship between females. But of course, the actress director defends that this is not your typical film about friendships.
“The women of That’s What She Said are not the standard Hollywood issue: Preternaturally gorgeous, wedding-obsessed, boy-crazy, fashion focused, sexed-up child-women. They are real women, comically portrayed, who are wrestling with the very expectations of womanhood that Hollywood movies propagate.”
Anne Heche and Alia Shawkat are some of the stars of the movie, while her husband, the electrifying Michael Emerson also makes his appearance as a bit player.
This isn’t the first time the actress tried her hand at directing, however, for she did a film back in 2005.
