True Bloody Mary: Would You Try It?

Many items grace the official HBO True Blood merchandise page, but many fans have suggested that the most important prop, a bottle of True Blood, is missing. The problem with selling True Blood would be the ingredients of the drink; would fans be satisfied with a red juice drink? Some sort of cherry soda mix? Or are they expecting blood?
Well, a bar in London named Ruby Lo has begun serving it’s own take on True Blood: the True Bloody Mary. It’s an alcoholic beverage mixed with pasteurized blood. It is the worlds first carnivorous cocktail and the bar owners believe it to be an aphrodisiac.
Would you try it or is this going over the top?

Crazy stuff, definelly no.
uh, i like to try new things, so I guess I’d try it. I’m sure it doesn’t really taste like blood. I bet that it just tastes like a regular bloody mary, perhaps a little more iron/coppery.
In the south of chile, rural people makes some kind of juise with sheeps blood and others ingredients such as parsley, salt and lemon, is quite good, is call “niache”.
you all should try it
“mix all that and licor, sound good”
dont u think?
one last tip, you must drink the juise Straight out of the sheep, drink it warm
yummy
Nope, I wouldn’t drink pasteurized blood, even less fresh sheep blood. It’s too gross. *urgs*
I always told myself that if ever confronted with it, I’d try blood pudding. I guess if I’d do that (and I’ve eaten a few strange things before), I can’t see the harm in trying the true bloody mary.
I’d down this drink in a heartbeat before taking on some of the world’s versions of blood (pudding) sausage. Just looking at that stuff makes me want to gag. As for the coppery taste of blood, that really is subjective. I have to get pricked with needles constantly and from my experience, my own blood has little to no taste at all. If this drink ever does show up in North America’s more reserved atmosphere, I’ll be looking here to find out about it. ; )
Being a vegetarian I think it goes against who I am, it does sound interesting but I would not try it.
I thought HBO was making a Blood Orange “True Blood” drink that costs an arm and a leg… LOL
@ ComiCon they announced Tru-Blood the drink as a “carbonated Blood Orange drink”, sounds like a red Orange Crush knock off. I was suprised they didn’t make a deep red energy drink as the sales price could be much higher. They also stated that it will release on 9/10/2009. So, beware of the high priced e-bay sellers who don’t even have any yet to sell!!
OMG! I just found the website for this.. (www.trubeverage.com)
IT IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE FOR SODA!
They made it into a “snobby” drink… no kidding… lol…. To quote the site:
“Be the first to own the Tru Blood Drink, Ships early exclusively at the HBO Shop! It’s official! The Tru Blood drink has now been ‘de-fictionalized’ and emerges into reality as a delicious blood orange carbonated drink. * Meticulously crafted, the Tru Blood Drink is an exact replica of the bottle design as seen on True Blood. The 14oz glass Tru Blood bottle is stained in a rich red, with raised Tru Blood English lettering and matching Japanese Kanji.* This blood orange flavored soda is slightly tart, lightly sweet and subtly carbonated. Designed to taste great while matching the appearance of Bill’s favorite drink, the drink pours like a regular soda, but with the standing appearance in a glass is stormy and mysterious. Please Note: Due to the weight of this item a $3.00 shipping surcharge will be added to your order at checkout.”
Stormy and mysterious??? LMAO!
Oh I totally forgot to put the price!
SIXTEEN DOLLARS for only FOUR bottles of TruBlood! Holy crap! Plus a $3 shipping surcharge!
Thats $4.75 a bottle! Thats crazy!!!
Yes, but on True Blood, Eric said it cost $45, for one bottle – that’s maryann levels of insane!
LOL I guess you really do have to be a vamp to afford the stuff….
Like a bottle of wine from room service……..always marked up! LMAO
Blood from animals is a delicacy in many places. Sea turtle blood is popular. I do not think it is going over the top. I would try it just to see what it was like. I mean seriously drinking blood isn’t that weird. Lots of people eat chicken livers and cow eyeballs along with sheep fries. It’s not that weird.
It depends.
Is this blood from animals who were bred for the sole reason of being confined and killed? Or from consenting humans?
You’d have to be a pretty crazy person to donate blood to a beverage company, surely? I mean, a hospital is one thing, but if someone came up to me and asked me to donate blood so someone could drink it, I would be really suprised!
But surely if humans donate their own blood, its far more ethical than killing nonhuman animals for it. That was the point I was trying to bring up.
Yeah, of course, I totally agree with you, I’m vegetarian(:
It’s just, I would burst out laughing if someone came up up to me with a hypodermic because they wanted a drink
I’m a vegetarian, so I definitely would not drink this.
They are selling TruBlood on the hbo site though! Blood orange soda. I had some at the True Blood party at Comic Con. It was mixed with vodka (called a Fangbanger) and pretty tasty.
Well, I’m vegetarian, but if it was human blood, I’d drink it..
but would it be possible to get AIDs from the drink?
PS…. They claim Jaggermeister has Elk’s blood in the recipie!
I would definitely drink it. I love the taste of blood.
C’mon people. We love the series and the books. We don’t have to drink any kind of blood for nutrition or kicks. Just because something is out there doesn’t mean we should or would try it.
um…blood…sure I’ll take one just to say I have but I wouldn’t get another…
I would Definatly Try it =) and the blood would have been processed and cleaned so you cant get AIDs from it xD =P.
