Vamp Blood

  • Author: Courtney | Category: True Blood News

  • For all of you out there, and I know there are quite a few, who are extremely confused as to why Sookie doesn’t experience the same side-effects of V as everyone else, I will try to make it clearer. We all have to remember that whenever Sookie is drinking Vampire Blood, she is severly injured and about to die. At that point your body will accept almost anything that will heal it, and Vampire Blood does exactly that. I also believe that because Sookie is so different from most humans that it will always have a different effect on her, she is immune to glamouring, and she is not afraid to insult a vampire over one thousand years old, Eric. She is just a different kind of person, very unique and quite extraordinary. And for most humans I believe that if they were about to die there bodies would react the same way to V as Sookie’s did. I hope this clears most of the confusion up, but if you have more questions on this topic, I would be more than glad to look into it further. Just let me know!

The reason the vampire blood does not affect Sookie like it does other humans is because she is not completely human. She is part fary and that is why she is not as affected as much by vampires as others.

    2. Ekzotika says:

But… when she is with Bill and they make sex, he drains her a lot. That also doesn´t make nothing to her, like weakness or something.
Talking about sex V until know doesn´t make any extraordinary activity on Sookie’s too!
And why she doesn´t drink his blood normaly if she drank it other times, anyway?

    3. Talena says:

I noticed the first time she drank bill’s blood after she was attacked. It did show her becoming more sexual which is a side effect of drinking vamp blood. It is weird that she doesn’t go crazy like her brother did. He’s part fairy too, isn’t he?

    4. Courtney says:

Bill does drain quite a bit of her blood and she does feel weak after it all, but she takes the Vitamin B-12 every day to replenish her blood. And she doesn’t want to drink his blood normally, she knows it will heal her, and that is why she drinks it when she in injured, but if you remember back to episode one, she doesn’t like the fact that it is sold and used as drugs.

In the books it is clarified that the hallucinagenic effects of V have alot to do with how long the blood has been outside of the vampire. Part of the reason sookie doesn’t “get high” is because she always drinks directly from the vampire.

memnoch, thnx for telling us….especially me-didnt read the books, but I am about to buy them all :)

    7. Talena says:

I just finished the first book and am starting on the 2nd. In the books sookie is effected from drinking vampire blood. It changes the way she looks and she becomes more sexually attractive to both vampires and humans. The show has a lot of diffrences compared to the book. And I like sookie in the show better than the book so far… Hopefully it gets better because I bought the first 7?!?

It is not in the early novels that the difference of V users and Sookie is told. But, the author herself does relate in a Q and A that it is in fact the difference between taking the blood from the vamp and taking it from a vial or whatever the drainer provides it in that makes the difference. In a vial, it is outside the vamps body and “ages”. It is also hinted at that the older the blood is, the more likely the user will go crazy. But, someone previously noted that Sookie does still notice some differences. This is in the book form of course. These details are part of what has made me enjoy the book much more, even though I just read them all in the past few weeks. Both are excellent in their own right.

As far as Sookie insulting a 1000 year old vampire???? Thats more of a southern thing. : )
