What should Jessica be called?
In the newest episode, Bill asks Sookie what should they call Jessica. Sookie suggests prodigy (right?), and she’s not his daughter, what do YOU think she should be called? Apprentice? Prodigy? Niece?

I think Jessica should be referred to as a “charge”. Bill is her sire, and in many of the vampire novels I have read, the sires refer to the young vampires as underlings or charges.

Ditto. Bill should call her his daughter! I mean you all saw the way he acted when he caught her with Hoyt. He flipped as would any father. Plus, he is her creator and aren’t ,in a sense, fathers the same basic thing? He teaches her about being a vampire but doesn’t fill her in on important stuff, like vampires tears being blood. I mean, not every dad tells their daughter about periods and menopause right? Im just sayin…

Progeny is very good indeed or daughter but as vampires don´t have babies they don´t call her this kind of name!
actually sookie called her his “ward” or something, not progeny. I think she should just be referred to as a step-daughter or protege or something along those lines because he treats her like a father; always looking out for what’s best for her, overprotective, strict, unable to control her, looks at her in a completely non-sexual way and can’t stand her being with boys afraid she’ll make hasty decisions, etc. Sookie is probably the closest thing she’ll have for a mother even though Sookie isn’t that much older and the Compton house is as good as home so really they’re like most families in this day and age; disfunctional but trying to make it work lol.

I like daughter but he could also call her his ward, which is just a minor that is under the care of a guardian.

I don’t agree with daughter, because Bill seems like he is protecting OTHERS from JESSICA, not the other way around. So she’s more like his patient, and he’s a psychiatrist, trying to keep her from losing control and attacking the town. But thanks to LP, cause fledgling was actually the first word I was trying to come up with, but instead came up with underling.
I like him calling her his ward, but if you think about it, he really is like a father to her, and he lost his own two children. He obviously didn’t want a crazy teenage daughter, but that is what he got and he does treat her like one.
He might as well call her his daughter. He is going to be basically “raising” her and teaching her the ways of the vampire.
