in the book, the dog is actually a were-dog, and secretly a close friend of sooki’s. she doesn’t fiind out who till later though, she didn’t even know the dog wasn’t a dog. i don’t know if they kept that though, probably, from what i’ve seen so far at any rate.

In epsiode 4 he was talking to the dog witch means he can’t be the dog, unless theres 2 of Sam. x]
Actually that is Sam and there is not two of him. You see, Sam is a shape shifter but he prefers to call it just plain shifters, anyway there is not two of Samhe just needs whatever to turn into around him and it just happened to be a dog that he takes form of. You’ll learn that later on.

I thought the same about the dog and sam being the same. but in episode 2 we see sam petting the dog.
Sam can take a take different forms but the collie is his favorite to take. There is also a real collie in the show thats why we see him with the dog in human form.

Last season we see sam with the collie and he explains to sookie he can take any form but he chooses collie.
Then this season we see his flash back to his teens and he is a beagle.
Not that hard to follow the show, name calling is a bit childish
they didn’t know because some people don’t see the season while its on tv. so you did just give away the secret to people who are watching this for the first time.
