I love true blood but i have to say, i am not a huge fan of twilight…don’t kill me teens of world, i just think the books are not as exciting as that of true blood…

yeah, i agree… there are some great writers on fanfiction.net that are based on Twilight. But you also have to remember… Stephenie Meyer was still the one to come up with Twilight and without her writing her stories it would not of inspired other writers ( EG: on FF.net ) to write anything in comparison.
yeah twilight was probabaly ok if u didnt read the books but me being an original reader from the publishing of book one in the twilight saga, i hated the movie. it was nothing i expected. i think ppl jst lke it cuz they thnk vampires are wats in right now. which ive loved vampire stories since i was a kid. and personally i prefer more violent vampires thats why i like true blood so much better. my point is twilight books were very well written for my oppinion except breaking dawn which i disliked. but i disowned the series entirely after the movie came out. i jst cant go back to them and True Blood quenches my thirst with violent vampires and hot ass sex scenes :] not to mention all the supernatural in this series is jst addicting :] TWILIGHT SUCKS TRUE BLOOD RULEZ
personally I saw the movie first then dug straight into the books. I was inlove with the movie until I read all the books but the novels werent that bad. The movie was poor but hopefully new moon will be better. I think someday true blood will be developed into a film too. I know alot of people would love it.
I think it would be redundant for True Blood to be made into a film..It’s already a kick ass show, and being a movie would take away from it; mostly because they’d have to fit everything into a 2 hour time period. If that were to happen, then we wouldn’t have to “up close and personal” experience like we do with the cast of True Blood.

You have to remember, Twilight was written for teens. It is not supposed to be as raw and is supposed to be an easy read. Obviously it just caters to a younger crown than does True Blood. Luckily, I am in between the age brackets and can see the artistry in both.

I think the same. Bill truly loves her, and Eric only wants her because of her denial to him, like a spoiled little brat. He is cold and not plays fair, he makes dirty-games to put hem in situations together.
Not saying any spoilers, but the book portrays Eric and Sookie’s relationship quite different. As much as I would love for the series to follow the book… I’m kind of glad it does not. There are a lot of similarities but there is a lot that is different as well.
Those who have not read the books, should. I believe them to be just as good as the series, and I can’t wait to see how everything is going to turn out…

This isn’t really a spoiler, but just wait, if they stick anywhere near the book, which I hope they do, Sookie’s relationships with Bill and Eric will become so much more complex. I think all the actors are doing a wonderful job of bringing Charlaine Harris’ world to life. Even though they change things in the plot, the characters are just as rich as in the books.

Note that Sookie and Eric laugh in bed. That’s the hallmark of a sound relationship, one that can stand the test of time. That scene may have been more vision than dream.
It’s not apparent now, but Bill is full of angst, and he’s unlucky in love. He’s secretive when he shouldn’t be. It may not be his fault, he may be sworn to secrecy (by someone who didn’t know her, who was advised by someone who didn’t know her as well as they should have.) But if Bill’d just *told* her the truth … but then we wouldn’t have the conflict that makes a story.
Bill and Eric both have a difficult time defining their feelings toward Sookie. They are very different men who appeal to her in different ways. They also both have problems with their timing. It will be fun to watch. (Especially if HBO puts on screen a certain fantasy Sookie has later, one that keeps her giggling at an inappropriate time and perplexes both of them.)

Hey All, I think that was one of my favourite episodes, really liking the Godric character (im male, so, please no YEAH GODRIC IS HOT COMMENTS) is anyone else a little worried though that something really bad is going to happen to him, maybe he dies in this bomb in the last episode. He seems far too nice and philosophical so far, he obviously has people in his own area that would like to see him gone (the cowboy hat bearded vampire, who I forget the name, who is so obvious, why hasnt Godric picked up on that?) I know he is a REALLY ancient vampire who has immense power but dosnt use it, but still, as we know True Blood is a very twisty turney kind of series. I just think that it would make great TV if they (the writers of True Blood) decided to kill off Godric, and see what sort of chaos erupted. I of course don’t want that to happen, but like any character in this series, all the nice ones are either corrupted, killed, or are protected, I dunno just thinking out loud

I’m not sure if they are going to kill Godric, but in the book 2, he dies by meeting the sun–he was suicidal. But in TB they made him a much more important charecter.

Yeah? having never read the books, I dunno, I’ll probably read them when this season ends. Im just guessing, but from what i’ve heard the TV series is WAY off from the books, with very different plot lines etc, maybe for better TV, books are great for emotion and atmosphere and deeper character analysis, but as we know what works for books is a very different thing to what makes a great TV show. Godric, is the most powerfull character they have, would be a great shocker to kill him.
i also have read the books and i was very disappointed when he died. but i highly doubt they will kill him in the series. in the very short time he was there he made a huge impact. they will use him for later i just know it.
I hope your right, cos we’ve only seen him a d#few times and he really does scream power, to be honest I don’t know why he hasnt taken Bill more under his wing (maybe he will, he did save Sookie for him) cos he’s a lot like him, Bill keeps his humanity and understands the need for a relationship with humanity, obviously.
Bill is a LOT younger than Godric I know, but, I get the feeling he’s too good to be true (Godric, I mean)
I said before about Godric being the most powerfull character they have but the Devil woman Maryann is can control whole communities, do you see a battle of the titans?

The vampire Godric in the books, later called Godfrey earned to end his existense. He was repentful as he was fatal for children. He himself felt he needed to be put down. Hard to not agree to that one.

In the case of the battle of titans i think humans and vampires will have to unite, cause MaryAnn is controlling everyone and putting them in some very shame things and the vampires didn´t stop it yet. Maybe that help can make a peaceful living between the two species!
Yeah, in some ways I like the TV show better because the books are only from Sookie’s point of view, which can be annoying. The TV show focuses on ALL the charecter, giving them their own story.
But in other ways, I like the book better because, for one thing, theres alot more SookieĂ—Eric moments.
*Spoiler** I read the books and Godric does die by “meeting the light” … So I don’t know if this would be him but I read an article that in Dallas they were shooting a scene on top of a building at daylight with vampires, so I’m thinking that maybe it could be him suiciding…

I think that Godric knows that Stan wants his position, did you notice that Godric didn’t even reply to Stan when he was in line to talk to him and said something about “It’s great to have you back.” I’m thinking Godric isn’t going to be around for long, but I do think that his conversation about treating humans as equals is going to have a profound effect on Eric. I’m just hoping that they give him the chance to give a wonderful goodbye speech. I loved everything about the books, but I also love the show on its own terms, and Godric is case in point.

And i’m totally p.od that there is no bubba and lafeyyettes still living and that there is a jessica i mean they make the show intersestion don’t get me wrong there some of my favorite characters like the virgin foever stuff hilarious but still. I wish it would follow the book!
why is everyone complaining that its not following the book honestly if it did then it would be too predictable this way the book and the show can be seen as two different things twice the vamp stories!
The added story lines don’t bother me at all its the changing of pivital moments int he story line that lead to bigger and better storylines in the books.

I realize it was just for a sec but that’s the impression I got. Bringing her back right as she was out the door TOTALLY sounds like a twist they’d pull. I hope not cause I like Godrick. Wonder which ones die from the blast? Hope it’s the cowboy vampire. He’s annoying.

Course, I haven’t been there since I was eleven. But if you have an Aunt Dick, we could be related. There’s a picture somewhere on the Web taken in Homer during the 1920s, with a sign pointing one way to Dallas and the other to New Orleans, with Dallas a hundred miles nearer.
Oh, and when I got a closer look at the chair during the dream, I thought they may have redecorated around Eric’s chair. Lorena was only sitting in it so they could play with the lighting and her advance and retreat. I thought that was effective.
I was surprised when they killed off Stan, who really wasn’t Stan. (I forget his name in the book, and I’m housesitting away from them.) I wonder how they plan to replace him later.
this show is just plain out phenominal i personally can not wait to see what happens && i’ve noticed everyone is curious about what vampire is going to die from the explosion but has anyone considered what human is going to survive? obviously the show is nothing like the book so whos to say that jason is even going to live much longer, he was standing pretty close to the guy with the bomb, he might die just to make sookies life and state of mind more tragic.
Maybe Jason gets wounded and as to suck some vampire blood, or maybe he will be transformed. That would be great to see…
Ok so will someone please tell me if we know why Godric is so short? Don’t get me wrong, they couldn’t have picked a better man for the part, he is to die for! But on this site someone once mentioned something about his “fondness for children” which I think might reference the books. I have watched all of these more than once and I haven’t heard anything about it. I’m extremely curious about this character. Even though we have only had a few glimpses of him, I’m in love…completely anamored! I just know something awful is going to happen to him…but lets hope not yet! He’s perfect…a bit too perfect for this show. And what’s the deal with Marrianne? Are we going to see her cross paths with the vampires? Anyone have any thoughts on these questions?….will the blackeyed “demoncharacters” meet the vampires? And what’s up with Godric?…really?

My idea is that Godric is just so old, he lived in a time when people were much shorter, he was turned in the days of the Roman Empire. At least that is what we are told in the books. Eric, also very old, is an anomaly in his height. Because even a couple hundred years ago, forget Godric’s 2000, people were shorter. Case in point: Bill. Hope this helps. And again, if the show follows anything like the books, the vamps will have to deal with Marrianne, whose name is Callisto in the books, and who isn’t functioning as a member of society, but living in the woods causing chaos, very soon.

They won’t kill Jason off. If anyone dies it will will be Stan, and Godric may go as well. The only issue I have is that Lorena wasn’t in the room to be (hopefully) killed as well, though I must say, she puts a delicious wrench in that well-oiled Sookie/Bill machine.

Maybe he drinks the bottles of True Blood.
The older the vampire is, the less often they need to feed. I think a lot of it really is that he doesn’t NEED to feed at all at this point.

I think the episode name may be referring to Eric. In the books he can fly, and a while back I saw some pictures and photos of Alexander Skarsgard doing some wire work on a crane for the show. I think in this episode when he saves Sookie from the bomb, he’s gonna “rise up” and fly off with her. On the other hand, Godric is supposed to take the fall for the “national vampire disaster” that ensues in this episode, so perhaps he is simply “rising up” to his expectations. Dunno. I think Eric flying would be more fun though.

Just wondering if anyone else has read the books, and if anyone else is as psyched as I am for next May to hurry up and get here already! I can’t wait for Charlaine Harris’s next book to come out! I wonder what the title of it is going to be. Usually there’s a little preview of what’s to come at the end of her books, but not in the hard back of dead and gone. I was told the paperback for it wont come out until November. Ugh, and I think that’s what the preview will probably be in! Oh well, anyways who else is completely rooting for Eric now?! I mean it’s like I understand that in order for her to have the life she eventually wants with children and a normal husband she would either have to marry a human or a shapeshifter/were animal, and we pretty much know that she wont marry a human, but I am totally rooting for Eric still! It’s like Bill is cool and all and that’s cute that he still loves her, but he blew it, well kinda. Not really his fault, but in the book he went to see Lorena on his own. Anyway, I still kinda want Sookie and Quinn to get together though. Quinn would be the one guy that could provide Sookie the life she wants. And what’s up with Alcide? Is he going to come back into the picture???? Oh! And Sam! Jeeeeshhh…..lol

If you look closely, you can see that Luke has silver bullets pushed into the chain links. I’d say that it’s still a bullet, maybe more than one!

Ok I was looking on IMDB not to ruin things if you read this. But Godric probably dies in the next episode. Cause if you look on IMDB if it is showing everything which it could not. But anyways it shows him in the next episode then no other ones. THen you look at someone else…I looked at Sam and he is in further episodes. So Yeah that makes me think he is gonna die. Which I like Godric seeing his character finally. But of course there is always those kind of people dieing…Never read the books so I don’t know anything on that end. But hopefully IMDB is wrong….I am a guy I just like his character not in the sexual way at all. Just his words and he kinda is a good character for the show…cause it is a drama and he causes a lot of drama between everyone, especially IE Stan/Eric.

As someone who hasn’t read the books. (Thank GOD!) Confusing enough reading everyones speculation from what they have read, but knowing how much Mr. ball has switched up the story, they seem to complain. But back to the spoiler: The episode previews which have already been written state that Godric takes ALL of the blame for the PR problems which have been created, thus one would imagine that this is to ultimately save Eric and possibly the other surviving vamps from his den. The Queen appears to have her own agenda which includes Bill in the books, not always so with this version! They also wrote that Eric seduces Sookie in episode 9. Jason also appeared to have fangs in a latter preview from COmiCon which could be this season. Sam gets help from Andy (who is possibly related to Bill). So, having said all of that and seeing the relationship Eric has w/Godric, I don’t think he could sit back and let the Queen kill Godric. He may let them bind him in silver or most likely he would kill himself first to prevent further bloodshed. I believe Eric would be quite ruthless otherwise.

stan becomes king of somewhere in the book so godric has to die I know series are diffrent then the books but not that much if they wanna put Quuen in to the series they have to kill godric so stan can be king

That isn’t necessarily true. In the books Stan was already Sheriff of Dallas (which is what Godric is in TB – NOT a King). Later on in the books Stan becomes King of Texas. In the books Godric dies, isn’t a Sheriff/King or even Eric’s Maker. These changes wouldn’t take away much from the actual plot of the books. I take it by Quuen, you either mean Quinn or Sophie-Anne Leclerq. For either Stan would not need to be King in order for either character to be brought into the series.

This King and Queen stuff is getting confusing. If Nan is queen, how is the “Queen of Louisiana” comming in next season. Does this mean that there are more than one King and Queen? Please help as I am a bit lost on this. TIA

In the books there is more than one King and Queen.
Nan is not the queen, she is merely the face of the Vampires for media situations and tries to difuse the circling media hounds.
I have absolutely no idea what TB are going to do about the whole Kings and Queens of States, but really hope they keep it the way it is in the books because it works and seems plausible.

I agree, I think he does have a heart, it’s just a lil lost atm, so he’s going about a few thing a lil confused/callously! Such as caring for Sookie in ep 8 I think he felt the impulse but wasn’t too sure why. Remember when sookie mentioned love and he replied; “Don’t use words I don’t understand” <- Pretty emotive when he said it!
Not to mention his deep connection to Godric – even though he’s evaded Sookie so far in explaining it, it’s pretty clear he exhibits raw emotion for him!
I think he wasn’t expecting Godric’s prospective on equality, and his protectiveness of humans. Seems it’s having a really big impression on him
It’ll be interesting to see where that goes!

Well I guess he’s the most human of them all. We have all been mean to someone, intentionally or not. To me Erik is the guy who knows his power and how to work it and *** if you don’t like it outside. Inside he’s just as capable of showing love and affection, look how he his with Godric. Bill was under Lorena’s control like Eric & Godric and yet he was NEVER as deep with her as Eric is with Godric.

Honestly, while the books do pair Sookie up with Eric, (I’m a rabid Eric fan, myself) things aren’t definitely resolved yet. Even through book 9 (the last book that is currently available) things are still kinda open for Sook to end up Eric, Bill, or someone else even. I want her to end up with Eric, but that’s really up to the lovely Charlaine Harris.

Yeah, Bill sticks around, and though he seems pretty down sometimes, I wouldn’t say that he shows up at her front doorstep holding a boombox over his head playing “In Your Eyes.” lol. But that’s not really his style.
Eric (up until the last episode) has been very different in the show that his is in the book series. In the series he is actually pretty funny, and he’s a wicked flirt. Let’s just say that AB stole some of Eric’s moves from the books and gave em to Bill in the show. But I still love TV Eric.
You should be able to order the books online. It’s alot cheaper to order the packaged set of the first 7 books, and then get the last two individually. Take it from a woman who drove down to Borders at 10 30 pm to get the 5th novel, you DO NOT wanna be caught finishing one book without having the next on hand.
Well Aidzo about your Eric comment. I think they did a good job with him on the show but he is quite a bit different from the book. In the book he was alot nicer. Anyway you can probually download the books in pdf if you look.

Have you ever uploaded anything to youtube or another file sharing program? A 3 minute video alone can take up to 15 minutes upload. The admin is uploading nearly an hour long file so it takes a reeeallly long time.

I think that happens when so many folks are online trying to get the show at the very same time. I have just about given up seeing it on Sunday night and I wait a day or two. Sometimes in the wee hours of Monday, as the sun comes up, I get the whole show within the 50 mins with no interrupted breaks.

Hmm, this episode was amazzzzing but it was also kind of, you know not too much going on. I can’t really explain. It was definitely a sad one though (the ending)

Well, Sookie and Eric are married, but it is a much more complicated situation than he simply asked her and she agreed. But yes it is true, and the whole Eric/Sookie relationship is such entertainment in the books. I just love Eric (book and TB).
I used to love the book Bill, but you will see how Sookie can leave him. She has good reasons, not a simple misunderstanding that was blown out of proportion. However, Bill does continue to try an amend their relationship, so there is a chance you will see them together again. Charlaine Harris keeps us guessing, so who knows what is going to happen.
The books are different than the show, by a long shot- so Alan Ball might take it a different course than the Eric/Sookie relationship. But I think he will eventually get them together because it seems like so many people are rooting for Eric!

Eric pulls a fast one, and he admits he tricked her into it, but he did it to protect her. She’s pissed that he didn’t discuss it with her beforehand, but too busy to deal with it and not all that upset. Sookie is clearly in control when they get around to discussing it later. And they are lovers; Sookie thinks of it as “gourmet sex.”
But they’re not legally married according to the state of Louisiana. They are formally pledged according to vampire ritual, which makes Eric say, “He can’t touch you now. We are wed. No vampire can touch you without my permission, and that’s on pain of final death.” (Quoted from memory . . . my books are at my own house and I am housesitting).
Do not assume that “he” is Bill.
I think the best analogy is a medieval betrothal, which was something between an engagement and a marriage. For example, Edward IV (York/Neville) got England into deep shit, Sherlock, because he married for love, interrupting negotiations for a state marriage, after years before being betrothed in secret (to someone else) for sex (“if you sleep with me, I’ll marry you” was not a casual offer in the 15th century). This led to the Tudors winning the War of the Roses. Henry VIII was not unlike his York grandfather.
I could frakkin die! This was ABSOLUTELY *THE* BEST episode EVER! I wish I could make this font larger so I could fully express how totally amazing every second of this episode was. Eric and Sook in bed, Tara screaming like a banshee, Eric sobbing on the rooftop? Let me just say that TB has outdone itself. Just when you think that they cannot possibly do better than the week before, they take the show to a wholly new plane. The depth of emotion and the evolution of the plot were quite literally, breathtaking. I can say with all honesty, after watching that episode, I feel like I just hoovered a pot of coffee and was kamikaze bombed by syringes of speed… if that ain’t descriptive enough. I am riding the True Blood high. lol.

I was crying with Eric on the rooftop and I loved the pillow talk dream of Sookie’s. I wonder if Eric had the same dream, now they are blood-bonded.
I think it is Eric’s emotional display of love for Godric and his genuine sorrow for the loss of Godric that will begin to soften Sookie’s heart rather than the blood bond. I bet he hides his true feelings though. Eric being Eric.
I must admit I am a tremendous fan of the books, as well as TB, but I don’t think even Charlaine Harris could have written this touching scene between Eric & Godric better than the TB writers. Well done!

That was an amazing episode! It brought out the sensitive and loving side of Eric- and Sookie was able to see it first hand! I think that is a big step in getting them to a place where they might be able to have a relationship, because she had thought he was heartless before this.

Ok, am i just going nuts or are they combining aspects of books 2 and 3?
Grievances-they cut out entirely the shifters and Weres of book 2, they brought Lorena in from book 3, they completely changed Sam’s relationship with the maenad, they cut out Bill leaving here during the FotS attack on the sheriffs mansion, Godrich wasn’t a sheriff or Eric’s maker-though I really like their take on that, made Eric’s role a lot more pivotal.
Ok, I know that they were gonna change some things for the tv series, but the Were’s and Shifters are really important after this point, so how are they gonna change that?
Also I think Lorena was just introduced so that when she comes back it’s that much more AWESOME! I hope, maybe.

Cool episode with the typical True Blood finale’s meh last scene.
Is it me or is True Blood taking the direction Buffy The Vampire Slayer once took when Buffy fell in the arms of Spike, a vampire she so loathed? Only difference would be Sookie being shared between Bill and Eric (So much more exciting!)
*Sigh* Can’t wait for Season 3 … sadly, a year from now. Thank you for allowing us to watch all new episodes of all seasons every week!
There really is no comparing TB to Buffy.
Buffy was a ‘made for TV’ series, whereas the TB series is based on a book series. Alan Bell and the other producers of TB are simply sticking to the basic plot of the books with a few interesting side-bars.
I can’t wait for season 3 either and season 2 isn’t even over yet.
Episode 9 – Wow!
Thanks for the hard work. I would not be able to see this show because of different reasons. Only one is I do not own a TV. Instead, I have a computer and internet connection. This is the first show that has come up that makes me wish I could do both Cable and the Internet. I plan to buy the CD when it comes out as my way to support the writers of the show. I have got the first season on CD. I also have all the books that are so far out. They are really nothing like the show however. Just a few bits and parts here and there that have a common thread. How the writers took those threads from the book and wove such a different cloth. What a show! … and what a set of books!

Apparently the title of the 10th Sookie Stackhouse book due for release in May 2010 will be titled “Dead in the Family” and the plot centres around the significance of family – Eric’s, Sookie’s, Bill’s and Sam’s.
I can’t wait.

I disagree that the books are completely different. The show is different from the book but they do tie in some of the story lines and character arcs, Some the characters, like Tara and Lafayette aren’t as developed in the book as they are in the series so naturally the series is going to differ a lot from the book because unlike with books, characters can’t just fall of the earth for a season in the show. This season for example throws Tara into this Maryann story line. This is not how things go down in the books, but this story line with Tara is similar in someways to a story line involving her in another book.
I’ve read all of the books and I’m interested to see if they merge the resolutions to both plots.
I can understand why Godric met his maker, but what a sad ending. He did what he thought was the right thing. As for MaryAnne, get rid of her already, she’s a bitch and needs to meet her maker. I hope that Tara’s mom and Lafayette are able to help her, she needs away from MaryAnne as well as everyone else. I can’t wait til next week to see what happens.

I think True Blood and Twilight are both awesome. Liked the Twilight books A LOT more than the movie, but hoping i’ll like the second one better. Have not read the sookie stackhouse books yet but am looking forward. I don’t think you can compare true blood and twilight because the story line is so different in nature. I think they are both awesome

I have been into Vampires for years there was just something about them that I loved. From interview with the Vampires to twilight and now my favorite True Blood.I love twilight because its a beautiful love story and I found myself watching True Blood because of Sookie and Bill they have there own weird love story going on.

This episode had the most beatifull and sad end of all episodes. I really liked Godric. He seemed a bit like a child. And it’s sad he died but still this is the best end of all episodes.
